Out-shooting and out-playing host Colorado College for the second night in a row, North Dakota found itself staring at a 2-1 deficit with seconds remaining in regulation and the possibility of being swept by the Tigers for the first time since 2004-05.
Dillon Simpson tied the game with 13. 4 seconds remaining to give his team new life, and freshman Dranke Caggiula scored his third goal of the weekend 51 seconds into overtime to give UND a 3-2 victory over the 18th-ranked Tigers.
The victory improved UND to 7-5-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the WCHA.
The University of North Dakota women's hockey team swept the RIT series and extend its winning streak Saturday night at the Ralph Engelstad Arena to a program-record seven games. With the 8-2 victory, North Dakota elevates its record to 11-5-0 on the season, while nonconference opponent RIT falls to 6-7-2 on the year. UND concludes its first half of the season next weekend with a WCHA series at Wisconsin.
