UND Hockey sweeps CC in Grand Forks

Third-ranked North Dakota defeated visiting Colorado College, 5-0, Sunday at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Shane Pinto scored a pair of goals to give him three on the weekend in UND’s sweep.

Pinto got his first in the middle stages of the opening period with his seventh goal of the season. He picked up a puck deep in UND’s own end and raced up the near wall, flying past several CC defenders. Once clear, he sliced across the goal mouth and beat Dominic Basse for a 1-0 UND lead.

UND (12-3-1) tallied three goals in the middle frame with Collin Adams and Judd Caulfield book-ending Pinto’s second of the night for a 4-0 lead through two periods.

Colorado College (3-11-2) couldn’t solve Adam Scheel, who picked up his 11th win of the season, third via shutout, with 15 saves in the victory.

UND heads back to the road next weekend for a rescheduled series at Omaha.
