Xcel officials are lifting the call for conservation in north dakota and minnesota in light of this weekend’s explosion of a natural gas pipeline in southern Manitoba. The line disrupted supplies that serve 100-thousand customers in eastern north Dakota…northwest Minnesota…and parts of Wisconsin. the utility asked customers over the weekend to dial down their thermostats to help prevent service outages. As a result xcel’s mark nisbet says they saw a drop in demand of ten-percent or more.
natural gas is flowing to the region on one of two pipelines that was shut down for inspection following the blast on a third line. Xcel officials say they will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days.
