Are you ready for winter? This is winter weather awareness week in north Dakota and Minnesota. The national weather service reminds residents that sub-zero temps… snow…and ice are on the way. greg gust of the national weather service office in grand forks says if you live in the northern plains you can expect to experience two or three blizzards….two or three ice storms…and another two or three heavy snow or extreme cold episodes each and every winter.
Gust says this is a the perfect time to review safe winter prctices and ready that winter survival kit in your vehicle. On average the grand forks area can expect to see around 40 inches of snow during the cold weather season.
Gust says there are no specific weather patterns or trends to suggest that this winter will be anything but normal.
