UND Homecoming features event filled week

By Doug Barrett Oct 22, 2021 | 1:39 PM

It’s been a busy week on the UND campus with Homecoming activities.  The events have ranged from a 5-K run and a blood drive to the dedication of an oil drilling simulator and honoring six alumni at the annual Sioux Awards Banquet.

Still on tap (Friday) is the Chester Fritz Library reopening celebration …dedication of the new Memorial Union…renaming a courtroom at the Law School…and a beam signing ceremony at the Nistler College.

A groundbreaking ceremony will also take place (3pm) at the site of the new Delta Upsilon chapter house at 421 Princeton Street.  Campaign Chair Lynn Luckow says the $6.1 million dollar project is being financed entirely by private alumni contributions.

The fraternity turns 60 this year.  Construction on the home is expected to take about a year to complete.

Homecoming events conclude with Saturday’s football game with the Fighting Hawks battling Western Illinois.
