Disappointed….that’s how u-n-d president Robert Kelley described a banner that was displayed by a sorority this week. The signage outside the gamma phi beta house read “you can take away our mascot but you can’t take away our pride.” The pink colored banner coincides with u-n-d’s hockey team playing in the frozen four national tournament. This week also marks time out week sponsored by the u-n-d Indian studies association. Kelley says he appreciates that the banner was quickly removed but it demonstrated a lack of sensitivity. The national chapter issued an apology saying the action violates the policies and values of the organization. It goes on to say that gamma phi beta will partner with the university to provide sensitivity training for its members.
