Health officials have identified a couple of more TB cases in Grand Forks. Both individuals are adults between the ages of 20 and 29. Grand Forks Health Director Don Shields says they are part of the same social network of the original three cases identified this Fall. According to Shields an epidemiology team from the CDC spent over two weeks in Grand Forks earlier this month to review the department’s handling of the outbreak.
Around 800 total tests have been administered to date – including students and staff at two schools. Shields says additional cases arcould still trickle in.# 1010
Those with TB are treated with several drugs for six to nine months. Grand Forks has confirmed 15 cases of TB since September and 17 going back to March.
