Recent reports about the deadly impact of synthetic drug use may be getting through to young people in the Grand Forks area. After a spike in synthetic drug use earlier this year and the deaths of two people police say they’re receiving fewer calls regarding synthetic stimulants. GFPD Lt-Grant Schiller says he hopes it’s a trend that continues. Just last week the North Dakota attorney general’s office announced it was crafting legislation to give law enforcement officials more tools to combat synthetic drugs. The bill is expected to be ready for lawmakers to consider when the legislature begins in January.
