u-s senator john hoeven stopped by century elementary in grand forks today to talk up the latest changes in the school lunch program. the so-called sensible school lunch act gives local districts more flexibility in making modifications to rules for serving grains…starches…and proteins. the u-s-d-a placed a limit on calories in school lunches starting with the 2012-2013 school year in an attempt to curb obesity. Hoeven says the guidelines left many students feeling hungry.
The u-s-d-a agreed to permanently modify the school lunch rules earlier this month.
