A warning for cell phone users…another phishing scam is making the rounds. According to the North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem the scam involves a phony customer service technician calling customers to say there will be a service disruption due to tower upgrades. The technician offers a bill credit to make up for any inconvenience. All the consumer needs to do is “confirm” the billing address…account…password…and other personal information. Parrell Grossman of the consumer protection division says if you receive a such a call – hang up. He says at least six North Dakotans have fallen victim during the past week. At this time the scam involves calls claiming to be from ATT. Earlier this year the scam artists claimed to be from Verizon.
