Spring has sprung and the red river is starting to take notice. The red in grand forks / east grand forks has been steadily climbing the past few days as a result of warming temps and melting snow. The river is expected to crest in grand Forks on Sunday. The national weather service says the red lake river in crookston has already climbed over the action stage and should top out around 17 feet Friday or Saturday – two feet over flood stage. The n-w-s says they will be keeping an eye on the possibility of ice jams which could cause a rapid rise in the river level. Overland flooding is also a possibility with plugged culverts.
