demolition of the old ralph englestad arena should be completed in the next week or two. Work on razing the Ralph began in late july. Craig Swenson of u-n-d facilities says the walls are down and work on removing the old concrete bowl continues. The cost to demolish the building was pegged at around 800-thousand dollars. the scrap value of materials was estimated at about a-quarter million. when the building is removed work crews won’t bother to fill the vacant hole left behind. excavation is needed for the 19-point-five million dollar u-n-d indoor practice facility that will be constructed on the site.
