The grand forks school board has agreed to buy seven acres of land in south grand forks for construction of a new elementary school.
The price-tag for the parcel is 762-thousand dollars. As part of the purchase agreement owners will gift another two acres to the district. School officials are currently discussing whether to build a school for 300 students with an eye on expansion up to 600 -- or go with the full project right away.
In other district news the board approved a new three year contract with superintendent dr-larry nybladh that calls for a two-percent pay bump in year one of the deal. The board is also in the midst of contract talks with the district’s largest employee group – the teachers.
