The grand forks school board has selected doug carpenter to fill the open seat left vacant by the resignation of Kelly hogness. Carpenter was a vocal critic of the board’s original plan to boost the local levy by 28-percent to balance the budget for the 2013-14 year. A total of four people applied for the post including: john Knutson…Kevin kuntz…and amy zabinsky. Carpenter was eventually selected on a six-to-two vote. He will assume those duties on at the November 12th board meeting.
