ND Underage Drinking
February 21, 2013

Underage drinking took center stage as members of the North Dakota House passed legislation to crack down on those providing booze to minors. A person caught buying the stuff for the under 21 crowd would face a 500 dollar fine. That would double for a second offense and become a class “C” felony the third time around. Representative Joe Heilman says the bill sends a message. Heilman says a recent survey suggests 84% of underage drinkers get their alcohol from fiends over 21 and 26.8% get alcohol from parents with consent.
The measure passed on a 61-33 vote and still needs to be heard in the senate.
