Student fees would disappear from the higher ed landscape in North Dakota under a plan approved by the board of higher education this week. Over the course of the next year the North Dakota university system will conduct an analysis of all non-mandatory fees that can be merged into a new tuition rate structure. The goal is to announce the new rate structure by the Fall of 2013 and implement the changes in 2014. The action plan is in response to a critical performance audit by the state. University System Chancellor Ham Shirvani says the changes are needed to make sure that all fees are spent appropriately and that balances are applied to benefit students.
