ND STD's

August 22, 2012

North Dakota’s on a pace to set a new record for sexually transmitted diseases in 2012.  The state health department has confirmed one-thousand-381 cases of chlamydia during the first six months of the year -- up nearly 200 from the same time in 2011.    STD coordinator Sarah Weninger says increased screening…a larger population…and greater awareness may be behind the bump.   70-percent of s-t-d cases occur in the 15 to 24 year age group.  The department says the 136 cases of gonorrhea is also up slightly.
