ND Soldiers Killed

Two soldiers assigned to the 818th Engineer Company of the North Dakota National Guard were killed in action Monday in Afghanistan. According to the guard a third soldier was wounded in the attack. They were conducting route clearance operations in southern Afghanistan when an explosive device struck their vehicle. 41-year old Sgt First Class Darren Linde of Devils Lake and 20-year old Tyler Orgaard of Bismarck were killed in action. 23-year old Spc Charles Placek ofBismarck is listed in stable condition at a medical center in Germany. The last North Dakota National Guard casualty was six years ago. A total of 14 North Dakota Guardsmen have died in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
