North Dakota taxable sales and purchases climbed 11.5% during the second quarter of this year compared to 2021.

S & P’s in April, May and June came in at $5.9 billion dollars.

Tax Commissioner Brian Kroshus says the report shows a strong year-over-year taxable sales and purchases increase.  “This is the fifth consecutive quarter that North Dakota has seen double-digit growth in taxable sales and purchases. This growth shows that the state’s economy has been consistently growing since the second quarter of 2021.”

Kroshus says 13 of the 15 major industry sectors reported increases. He says it was led by the mining and oil extraction sector, which reported a nearly 38 percent increase over the second quarter in 2021.

Among the state’s largest cities Minot had the largest percentage gain at 5.5 followed by Fargo at 1.7%…Grand Forks less than one-percent… while Bismarck dropped two-percent.
