While COVID-19 has dominated headlines because of sheer numbers the North Dakota Health Department continues to monitor influenza activity.
As of this week (Thursday) the state has confirmed 7,587 cases of flu – including 10 deaths.
The department’s Kirby Kruger says since the start of the influenza season nearly eleven-percent of North Dakota lab specimens have tested positive.
Kruger says cases counts of flu have dropped for three consecutive weeks – but it’s too soon to call it a trend.
Influenza has been blamed for nearly 13% of student absenteeism during the current school year.
