North dakota’s deer-gun season opens Friday at noon. The state game and fish department will once again sample deer for chronic wasting disease. deer head drop-off locations will be set up in 29 cities and towns in eastern north dakota this year. the sampling includes all two districts.
Deer will also be tested in the southwest part of the state. c-w-d affects the nervous system of members of the deer family and is always fatal. Scientists have found no evidence that c-w-d can be transmitted to humans or livestock. A total of 59-thousand-500 licenses were made available this fall – the lowest total since 1983.
