It’s official…..minto (nd) is in the record books. The town of 600 received word this week that they made it into the Guinness book of world records for cooking up the largest pot of chili con carne this past june. according to the guinness folks the community cooked up a record two-thousand-420 pounds of chilli. backers used a specially produced cooking pot which weighed one-thousand-408 pounds. one of the event organizers was chris misialik (mish-al-lik) who says procceds from the event benefited a number of organizations. the chilli feed raised around ten-thousand dollars.
misialik says organizers will meet next week to brainstorm ways on how to use the designation to promote minto.
around four-thousand people turned out to sample the chili which was gone in about two hours time.
