Around two-thousand volunteers spent the weekend putting together 427-thousand pre-packed meals as part of the Feed My Starving Children Mobile-Pack event in Grand Forks. This was the third year in a row that supporters transformed the public works building into a temporary food warehouse. Each meal consists of powdered vitamins…dry vegetables…and rice. To date the Grand Forks group has funded one-million-18-thousand meals. Program Chair Jodie Storhaug says that’s enough to feed 930 children for three years. Storhaug says the meals will target the hungry in Haiti. Backers raised over 90-thousand dollars for this year’s effort. Storhaug says they hope to hold a fourth event next spring – if enough money is available.
