Arizona U-S Senator John McCain says the North Dakota senate race could be the key to gaining GOP control of the senate. Mccain attended a rally in Grand Forks last night for Congressman Rick Berg. Berg is locked in a tight race with Democrat Heidi Heitkamp for the senate seat being vacated by Kent Conrad. McCain told the crowd of a few hundred that every vote counts. McCain also toured UND’s unmanned aircraft operations on Thursday. Grand Forks County is awaiting a decision from the Air Force about leasing 200 acres of land from the GFAFB for a UAS techparkor campus. McCain who is the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee says he was impressed with UND’s aviation facilities.
