LM Wind Power is trimming its workforce in grand forks by more than 200 full-time jobs. The company cites the non-renewal of the federal production tax credit for reducing market demand. In addition to the 200 workers LM is cutting 15 administrative staff and 130 temporary workers and contractors. Keith Lund of the Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation says they’re working with job service to assist those workers in finding other employment opportunities.
In a preapred statement the company says U-S demand for windpower is likely to fall 70-percent in 2013 even with a resumption of the PTC early in the new year.
