The latest planning study for upgrading the kennedy bridge includes ideas for incorporating bike / pedestrian traffic into the river crossing. The report from the Minnesota department of transportation will be the subject of a series of public forums next week. The outline was presented to members of the grand forks service-safety committee last night. The four scenerios range from doing nothing to removing the median for two six foot sidewalks….leaving the median with only one walkway…or reducing travel lanes from 14 to eleven feet and narrowing the median for a ten foot wide raised trail for bikes and pedestrians.
Mn-dot is also looking at the costs for replacing the bridge. An open house is scheduled December 16th in grand forks and on the 17th in east grand forks.
