Sixteen people have applied to fill the northeast central district judge vacancy created by the retirement of judge joel medd. The judicial nominating committee will meet October 9th and 10th in grand forks to interview the applicants. The board will forward its recommendation to governor jack dalrymple who will have 30 days to fill the post or call for an election. The applicant pool includes 13 attorneys from grand forks as well as candidates from Bismarck…fargo…and Larimore. Judge medd retired September first. medd was appointed to the bench by governor art link in 1979.
