Altru is launching a community health assessment study. Supporters say the goal is to develop an action plan to improve the overall health of greater Grand Forks. Altru’s Chief Planning Executive Dennis Reisnour says decisions made today about health and safety can have a significant impact on health care costs down the line.
Reisnour says the last assessment of its kind was conducted in 1994. It helped establish better access to dental care for all income levels and establish smoke-free workplaces. The assessment will begin in October with results and recommendations being released during the second quarter of 2013.
The ther participating agencies include the Grand Forks Health Department… Park District…Police and Fire Departments.
