Grand forks county is hoping the air force signs off on the selection of a private firm to develop an unmanned aircraft tech park at the g-f-a-f-b. grand forks county is recommending f-d-s-l take the reins on the grand sky project. County commissioner john Schmisek says F-d-s-l is a joint venture between the Washington based investment company f-d stonewater and the texas real estate firm lynxs group. Schmisek says it’s now up to the development company to find tenants… development the site plan…and manage the operations of the u-a-s park.
Schmisek says the county will still have oversight but without the risk or liability of costs. The air force is expected to formally sign a 50-year lease for 217 acres of land at the grand forks base by the end of the year. Supporters say the agreement also bolsters the chances of grand forks being named one of six test sites to integrate manned and unmanned aircraft into the national air space.
