The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa want to renew discussions with Grand Forks over interest in a gaming and entertainment complex. Tribal leaders first floated the idea of a gaming project in 2006. At the time an economic analysis suggested the facility could create over 400 jobs with annual expenditures of more than ten-million dollars. The Tribal Council approved a resolution in October 2013 to seek approval for the site under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. TMBCI will reimburse the city for costs and loss of property tax revenue on land taken into trust for gaming purposes. The development would be anchored along the I-29 corridor. The Grand Forks Finance Committee will discuss the concept plans on Monday.
