GFPD arrests Bismarck woman for alleged vehicle theft, DUI

A Bismarck woman was arrested in Grand Forks today (Fri), on multiple charges including vehicle theft and driving under the influence.

 

Grand Forks Police say, shortly after 2 PM, they were called to the 300 block of 1st Avenue South on a report of a motor vehicle theft in progress. Witnesses told police the vehicle was seen headed south on Belmont.

 

Police say they then received calls about an erratic vehicle, matching the description of the stolen vehicle. They later located the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the vehicle kept going, and later stopped in a parking lot near Demers and South Washington.

 

Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Raechelle Long Elk, the only occupant in the vehicle.

 

Long Elk was arrested and taken to the Grand Forks Correctional Center for Theft of a Motor Vehicle, DUI, DUI refusal, driving under suspension, fleeing in a motor vehicle and reckless driving.
