The grand forks airport continues to set yearly and monthly boarding records. With that in mind the airport has switched from lobbying for expanded air services to maintaining existing flights and schedules. Delta offers on average five daily round trip flights to minneapolis. Allegiant has expanded its start-up las vegas route to include phoenix and florida. United initiated non-stop service to Denver in 2012. airport executive director Patrick dame says it’s important to remember without continued support nothing is certain. Dame recently returned from an n-c-i meeting with airline partners in Atlanta and says air service carriers are only going to serve cities they make money in. He says if markets become soft the airlines are quick to move on.
overall boardings are up six-and-a-half percent so far this year.
several airport construction projects are planned this summer including an expansion of the parking lot…an addition to the air cargo facility…and a mobile equipment storage building.
