U-S Senator John Hoeven says he expects the Air Force to announce next month which military base will receive an active duty tanker mission. Grand Forks is one of four finalists for the KC46A refueling mission. Hoeven says a second round base will be named in the future. During a visit with U-S Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff General Mark Welsh this week Hoeven says he informed the leaders that the GFAFB was ready…willing…and able to assume the tanker mission. The senator also plugged the UAS mission of the base and an effort by Grand Forks to secure one of six test sites for unmanned aircraft testing.
