The Grand Forks Youth Commission has launched a campaign to send care packages to North Dakota troops overseas. Commission members say they have already surpassed the goal of 60 packages. The latest initiative is called Youth Can Support Our Troops.
Mandi Egeland is a senior at Red River High School and commission coordinator. Egeland says the packages are stuffed full of things we often take for granted like hygene products and treats.
The youth commission has been soliciting business and the public for donations to help pay for shipping the packages overseas. Around 50 people attended a kick-off luncheon at the Mark Sanford education building.
