A grand forks committee is supporting a plan by a local non-profit group to establish a rental facility in the greenway for canoes…kayaks…and paddle-boards. Ground-up adventures is looking to build a removable headquarters out of modified shipping containers. The temporary building could be removed with a forklift in the event of flooding. The greenway technical committee has approved the plan and a use agreement for the site was reviewed by members of the city’s service-safety committee.
Ground up adventures has received a 24-thousand dollar grant from the state of north Dakota to help jumpstart the project. The entire project is expected to cost around 90-thousand dollars. The full council will review the proposal on Monday night.
