If your getting sick and tired of seeing a sticky goo on your windshield and lawn furniture every day you’ll likely have to put up with it for at least a few more weeks. Aphids feeding on tree leaves are responsible for the mess. City forester mike fugazzi of the grand forks park district says the bugs are out in full force this year. He says the fact that the region hasn’t seen a lot of rain to help dilute the so-called honeydew only makes matters worse.
Fugazzi says there are products to help knock the aphids down but it wouldn’t be cost effective to launch a city wide spraying of trees. He says mother nature will take care of the bugs in time.
