With the arrival of warmer weather comes the return of mosquitoes.
Grand Forks health teams have already started larviciding standing pools of water – and placed traps around town to help keep better tabs on the population numbers.
Todd Hanson of Grand Forks mosquito control says one change in the year’s bug battle will be the implementation of a chemical resistance test procedure. “We’ve been using the same product for quite awhile. There is no evidence in our trap counts after we spray that there is any resistance.” Hanson say they will share the data with other organizations.
While mosquito numbers have been low so far the daily trap count hit a high of 438 back in 2005.
