For the first time in nearly three years city sales tax collections in Grand Forks have slipped below the million dollar mark. Grand Forks collected 972-thousand dollars in April. The payment pushes the year-to-date tally up to five-point-nine million dollars. That’s down four-point-six percent from one year ago. Tax officials say a delay in the spring thaw may have delayed some construction spending and a slowdown in overall collections.
