In the next few weeks Grand Forks leaders will decide whether to change the way the city manages its recycling program. at least two companies have submitted proposals to collect plastics...cans...and cardboard that residents toss out. the city is looking at an enhanced system that would deliver 90 gallon containers to every residential home to help collect the recyclables. They would replace the three multi-colored plastic bins that homeowners now use. The goal is to deliver the containers during the Summer and begin the program this Fall. The city's Public Service/Safety Committee will look over the plan next week. Residents recycled 2,401 tons of "stuff" in 2012.
