After tossing out several ideas for revamping the recycling program in grand forks the city’s safety-service committee is forwarding the issue on to the full council without a recommendation. Committee chair terry bjerke says it’s time to dump the program calijng it too expensive. Member tyrone grandstrand prefers an expanded recycling effort that includes providing drop off containers to homeowners throughout the city. Councilman ken vien says the current system seems to be working just fine. But grandstrand says the status quo won’t help the program grow.
upwards of 40-percent of homeowners participate in the voluntary recycling program. The council will consider all three options when they meet on Monday.
