Xcel Energy crews have been busy battling a series of outages in Grand Forks this morning.   As many as 12-hundred customers had their lights go off shortly before six a-m.   The largest outage knocked out power to over one-thousand customers on the city’s north side.  Xcel’s Mark Nisbet says crews were able to get the power restored within a few hours.   He says ice on lines and strong winds are to blame.  nisbet says they’ve brought up three crews from fargo as a precaution in the event additional outages occur.   Overnight rain turned to ice with falling temps.    Winds have been gusting into the mid-40 m-p-h range in grand forks.
