Average….that’s how park officials describe this year’s pool attendance in grand forks. Parks director bill palmascino says a total of 31-thousand-285 people visited one of the city’s two swimming holes this summer (2013). That was down about six-thousand from the 2012 tally. Riverside attracted over 19-thousand patrons while elks played host to over 12-thousand-200 swimmers.
Pool visitation peaked in 1995 at over 50-thousand visits. Riverside is operating under a five year agreement between the city and park district that comes up for review after next year’s swim season. palmascino says he doesn’t see any problems with an extension at this time.
