You’ll be seeing more of them in the future around Grand Forks…stormwater ponds. The city is in the process of updating its pond policy – designed to improve water quality and manage water discharges. With more ponds popping up some council members are concerned about safety. City Engineer Al Grasser says reducing the steepness of the pond sides go a long way in discouraging people from entering the water.
Councilman Terry Bjerke says a storm pond in his ward has not been a problem.
Grasser says it’s important to approve the design changes now because several developers will be incorporating them into their planned projects this construction season..
