The historic metropolitan opera house in grand forks may soon have a new owner. The finance committee approved the transfer of a federal loan used to refurbish the building after the 1997 flood. The 600-thousand dollar no-interest HUD loan is forgivable to the tune of 20-thousand dollars per year as long as all conditions are met. The current loan balance is 440-thousand dollars. The owners of Rhombus guys pizzaeria in grand forks are looking to buy the 1890 structure. The upper floors are being used for apartments but the first floor sits empty. the council will review the proposed sale on monday night.
