Residents who attended a public forum last night to discuss the future of the grand forks library were supportive of doing something with the book building. eighty-five percent who participated in an instant poll agreed the library was a worthwhile community investment. Studies suggest the current 42 year old building is outdated and in need of major repairs. the library averages over 750 visits per day. A working group is trying to come up with recommendation on whether to expand and renovate the existing site or look at building new.
two years ago grand forks residents voted down a one-percent sales tax hike to fund a new library. The working group is expected to make some recommendations to the library board by fall.
