Grand forks landlords see fewer unfair housing complaints compared to other large cities in the state according to the attorney for the greater grand forks apartment association. larry Richard addressed members of the city council on Monday during a discussion about a new grand forks housing discrimination law. Richard says between 2005 and may 2011 there were 27 complaints filed with the north Dakota department of labor concerning possible violations in grand forks. By comparison both bismarck and fargo logged 75 complaints during that span. richard says landlords in grand forks also reached case settlements higher than the statewide average.
The new grand forks ordinance bans all forms of discrimination including sexual orientation and gender identity.
