GF Housing Project
July 12, 2012
The Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a request to rezone a section of land west of 42nd street to allow for development of a 224 unit apartment complex. The developer Campus Crest Communities of North Carolina is proposing twelve three-story units geared towards u-n-d students. The complex would include 600 beds in a dorm style setting with a goal of being open by the fall of 2014. City Planner Brad Gengler says the housing complex would be set back from 42nd.
Campus Crest VP Chris Russ says the Grand Forks project has been in the works for some time
The land directly adjacent to 42nd was not rezoned to allow for retail and commercial development. The city council will consider the request next week.
