the grand forks finance committee has approved a housing discrimination ordinance. The law covers all forms of discrimination including sexual orientation and gender identity. Prior to the vote a number of people addressed the committee – the vast majority in support of the ordinance.
earlier this year grand forks approved a resolution of support for a senate bill to ban housing discrimination statewide but the legislation was defeated. The local ordinance still needs full council approval.
grand forks would be the first city in the state to adopt a ban based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
