Officials say a Thursday afternoon fire at a Grand Forks home caused $2,000 in damage.

The Grand Forks Fire Department says, at about 2:10 PM, firefighters responded to the 23-hundred block of 44th Ave South on a report of smoke coming from behind a fireplace inside the home.

After investigating the source of the smoke, firefighters discovered smoldering structural material on the exterior wall next to the fireplace.

They quickly extinguished the smoldering materials.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire was deemed electrical in nature.
