the newly formed grand forks downtown development association is getting closer to hiring an executive director. board president jonathan holth says over 60 people applied for the post. the city has earmarked funds to help establish the association and the group has raised another 200-thousand dollars from the private sector. holth says bringing a director on board is the next logical step to build on the success of downtown grand forks.
the group hopes to complete the hiring process by the end of the month. the association is sponsoring a downtown day event today at the empire arts center to help further define its vision for the city.
